PTE Pearson Test of English

PTE Academic test is an entrance requirement to Academic courses in the US, Australia, New Zealand. It assesses the student’s listening, reading, speaking and writing all via computer in a single 3 hour test session. PTE Academic assesses real-life, academic content, so you will hear excerpts from lectures and view graphs and charts. You will hear a range of accents in the test, from British and American to non-native speakers; thus, you will be exposed to a myriad range of accents that you will encounter in everyday life. .

PTE FORMAT

Score - 90, Total Time: 3 hours

The PTE Academic test is a three-hour test session. There are three main parts to the test: Speaking and Writing (together), Listening and Reading. There are twenty different question formats, ranging from multiple choice to essay writing and interpreting information.

 

PART 1 – SPEAKING AND WRITING

TOTAL TIME: 77-93 MTS.

Task 1: Test takers are required to describe visual information in their own words in approximately 150 words.

Task 2: Test takers are required to present a point of view on an argument/problem and are expected to complete this task in around 250 words.

Task 2 carries more weight than Task 1.

 

SECTION 4 - SPEAKING

11-14 Minutes

3 Sections:

Part 1 - Personal Interview

4-5 minutes

Part 2 - A short speech (2 minutes) and questions asked on the topic

3-4 minutes

Part 3 - Involves a discussion on the above topic

The score in each of the subtests and an overall (average) score is recorded as levels of ability, called Bands. Total Score: 9 for each Section and an overall score out of 9.

COURSE DURATION: 6 WEEKS.

REGISTRATION PROCESS

The examination fee for PTE is Rs. 13,300/- One can register online www.pearsonpte.com at any of the IOC centers and pay the test fee by credit card (Master/VISA) or debit card. Late booking examination fee would be Rs.13,625/-

The student has the option after the test to list down the names of as many universities FREE OF COST on the PTE account of the student, which will be sent to the universities. The PTE scores are valid for 2 years.
